Miranda Writes: Anything you say or do may be used for or against you within a story by a writer

About This Quote

You may think you’re doing or saying something, but actually it’s someone else who is doing or saying it. Even in writing, your words can be used in ways that seem far-fetched. Sometimes writers will take the most minor details in a story and use them to create an entire plot line. For example, in "The Devil Wears Prada", the writer took the idea that someone always makes a face when walking by the toilet and turned it into the plot of the story. This is called foreshadowing or character building, and it’s very common in fiction.
